DESCRIPTION: Hampden Watch Co., Springfield, Mass., "New Railway", 18 size, 23 jewels, stem wind and lever set, adjusted, ornately damascened nickel plate movement, with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, gold jewel settings and micrometric regulator, in a yellow gold filled, hinged back and bezel, reeded edge, engine turned and engraved open face case, with Arabic and Roman numeral 24 hour, outer red 5-minute markers, single sunk, white enamel dial, blued steel spade and poker hands, serial #1535118, c1900
CONDITION: CASE: Not original to the movement; Dents, back; Pin pricks; Scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches on inner surface of case and cuvette; Engine turning / engraving with moderate wear; Gold filled with minor brassing; Minor scratches on crystal; Crown replaced. DIAL: Hairlines in enamel, light, 8:00 to center, 6:00 to seconds bit; Tiny flake in enamel concealed by bezel, at set lever. HANDS: Replaced. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Scattered spotting; Bright work has minor oxidation; Jewels replaced, center wheel upper, balance endstone upper. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks).
